„Queens & Flowers“ –The Drag Summer Fair at Berlin’s Botanical Gardens

It was arguably last summer's most extraordinary cultural event: “Queens & Flowers,” the first drag summer fair at the Berlin Botanical Gardens, attracted around 2,000 enthusiastic visitors to Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Berlin’s green southwest, at the end of August last year. In the picturesque setting of the Botanical Gardens – home to around 22,000 different plant species and the second-largest garden of its kind in the world – drag artistry and botanical diversity merged into a celebration of inclusivity. From families with children to curious seniors and queer plant lovers from Berlin’s underground, everyone came together for a day full of entertainment and harmony. As SIEGESSÄULE author Sascha Suden aptly put it in a rave review: “Queens & Flowers: The Garden of Eden is in Steglitz.”

Now, the drag summer fair, organized by Place2be.Berlin, the LGBTIQ* tourism and events platform of SIEGESSÄULE – returns for its second edition. This year’s programme, running from 3pm to 10pm, once again promises a colourful variety for visitors of all ages, from drag queen story-hour and kids’ workshops, to botanical tours, DJs, live acts, and two spectacular drag shows on the main stage. Alongside several food trucks on site, iconic Berlin Hafen bar will also be back, extending the Gardens’ drinks menu with refreshing summer cocktails.

This year’s lineup again features a wide array of drag performers showcasing their artistry throughout the event. Hosting the main stage are Berlin’s own Kaey and Gisela Sommer. The ghostly goddess Antina Christ will present international acts like Lawunda Richardson, Christina Corpse, and Michele Clark. The headliner show will feature "Drag Race Germany" contestants Yvonne Nightstand and Metamorkid. This year’s drag queen story-hour for kids will be led by Vivienne Lovecraft, and DJ Ixa on the decks. And that’s not all – there are many more surprises and highlights in store. We’ll keep you updated!
“Queens & Flowers” has once again been organized in conjuction with the Berlin Botanical Gardens, with support from the Economic Development Office of Steglitz-Zehlendorf, the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Enterprises, and visitBerlin.
