Queer Summer Splash

After a one-year break, the “Queer Summer Splash” is making its comeback this summer. The popular LGBTIQ* pool day at Prinzenbad – a collaboration between the Berliner Bäder-Betriebe, SIEGESSÄULE, and L-MAG – will take place again on Sunday, 6th July

It was the big let-down of last summer: after extensive planning and discussions with the Berliner Bäder-Betriebe, the 2024 “Queer Summer Splash” had to be cancelled at relatively short notice, due to construction work at the Kreuzberg summer pool (Prinzenbad). The disappointment within the community was palpable, as the LGBTIQ* pool day – attracting around 2,000 visitors annually since its debut in 2017 – has become a permanent fixture in Berlin’s community summer calendar.

But fortunately, the wait is over: on Sunday, 6th July, the “Queer Summer Splash” returns. From 12pm to 8pm, visitors can enjoy a colourful programme: various queer sports clubs will offer a diverse range of (water) sports for attendees to try out and join; there will be food trucks and cool drinks from the legendary Schöneberg bar Hafen, and on the “Queer Summer Splash” stage – curated by SIEGESSÄULE and L-MAG – stand-up comedian, host, and drag queen Rachel Intervention will provide entertainment, alongside three popular scene DJs. This year on the turntables: House of Grace aka Grace Kelly, Electrosexual, and trust.the.girl.

The best part: despite the extensive programme, regular Prinzenbad admission prices apply (€7, reduced €4.20), and season passes remain valid. The pool will, of course, remain open to all guests. Additionally, queer-aware security personnel and the well-known “Gaywatch” awareness team will be on-site to ensure that queer individuals – and everyone who values diversity – feel especially welcome at Kreuzberg’s summer pool that day.
